Why are you Fat??? Who Me?? NO!!! Yes!!! Oh Boy!

Here is a question that I’ve asked myself over and over again “Does Hypnosis Work for Weight Loss??

The answer is always YES!!!! However if you met me you would realize very quickly that I’m over weight and have struggled with my weight for the past 15 years.

You might then say so if you are a hypnotist and hypnosis works for weight loss why are you fat??

As you can imagine there is no easy answer to this but I will try to explain and for the record I have now decided that I cannot do this alone and have finally sought help. No man or women is an island when it comes to weight loss.

You see, unlike smoking, we need to eat to live, and for most people, eating is tasty, fun and enjoyable. Unfortunately, what tastes good to us often isn't what is healthy for us.

The truth is that food has become for some of us our vice of choice. We may have given up smoking, drinking but we can’t give up eating. This fact makes it easy for us to use food as a substitute for smoking when we are stressed, for drinking when we are down etc.

Food has now for all the wrong reasons become our preferred method of external gratification to justify us feeling better. We can justify all this because at the end of the day we cannot stop eating!!! Therefore we eat and eat and eat and eat…………………!

Get the picture you do I need to hypnotize you?

How does Hypnosis for weight loss work?

Hypnosis uncovers the unpleasant emotional feelings that you may be stuffing down with food. In many cases food is used as a way to numb emotional pain. This underlying emotional pain has to be addressed and resolved in order for us to successfully remove the weight and keep it from coming back.

Eliminating the cause that makes us use food as a numbing agent must be our first priority.

Hypnosis also helps you create new positive behaviours to replace the old behaviours. These new behaviours are then re-enforced by YOU while YOU do your self hypnosis.

As we all know (me included) many people with weight issues don't like to exercise. Some may even exercise in a way that does not burn enough calories given the amount of calories they take in each day.

For this reason your hypnotist will teach you self hypnosis and by practicing self hypnosis, you can help yourself maintain new behaviours, so that you can achieve your weight loss goal and maintain your ideal weight.

So learn from my mistakes it’s never to late to leave your DESSERT ISLAND and get help! I’m glad I did and so will you!

Stay fit and Stay healthy!

How Does Hypnosis Really Work? Just The Facts Please!

In order to answer the question, how does hypnosis work, below are the top ten misconceptions that people have regarding hypnosis:

Misconception #1: Hypnosis is sleep or loss of consciousness.

Truth: Hypnosis is not sleep. Many people think that while doing hypnosis, they will go into in a state of sleep like when they go to bed.

NOT TRUE!

Hypnosis is merely a state of physical relaxation and actually heightened mental alertness.

Misconception #2: A person won’t hear anything but the hypnotist’s voice because they’ll be in some weird altered state like "LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS" Man!

Truth: Hypnosis is not some psychedelic state. The subject is able to hear everything that is going on in the room, and outside of the room. There is no selective hearing in hypnosis. The hypnotist can suggest that other distraction be ignored for the moment. This will only work if the client wants it to.

Misconception #3: A person doesn’t remember what the hypnotist tells them.

Truth: Absolutely false. A person remembers everything that is said to them during hypnosis.

Misconception #4: When doing hypnosis, you are under the complete control of the hypnotist.

Truth: In reality, hypnosis allows the subject to be more in control. The people who you see in the stage hypnosis shows are exercising their control by volunteering to go up on stage. They know it is an acceptable context in which they can let their inhibitions down.

In a therapeutic context, any suggestion that is out of context of self-improvement will be automatically rejected by both the subconscious and conscious minds.

Misconception #5: Not everyone can be hypnotized, only the weak-minded and the gullible.

Truth: EVERYONE who is of normal functioning intelligence, is willing to be hypnotized, and is willing to follow instructions within a context of self-improvement, CAN in fact be hypnotized.

Misconception #6: Hypnosis is about putting things into your mind and mind control.

Truth: Hypnosis is NEVER about putting things into your mind" and mind control."

The fact is that people have within themselves the beliefs, attitudes, and resources to accomplish their goals. But because of their past, or their environment, or constant negative conditioning, those beliefs, attitudes, and resources have been suppressed.

To answer the question, how does hypnosis work, what hypnosis does is merely reinforce the positive beliefs, attitudes, and resources a person has to help them accomplish their goals.

Misconception #7: What if I can’t be "Un-hypnotized"

Truth: There has not been one case of a person ever not "coming out of hypnosis," and for good reason. Because hypnosis is basically the state right before a person falls asleep.

So if for some strange reason, the hypnotist were to leave the room, or in an extreme case, die, the subject would merely drift asleep, naturally wake up, and end up with an expensive nap!

Misconception #8: Hypnosis causes people to reveal their deep, dark, hidden secrets.

Truth: I WISH!!!!! Absolutely false. A person always has control of what they say and do during hypnosis. Remember, any suggestion that is out of context, or violates one’s morals, ethics, and values will automatically be rejected.

Misconceptions #9: Hypnosis is harmful.

Truth: There has NEVER been a documented case of anyone suffering harm from the use of hypnosis.

Misconceptions #10: Hypnosis is satanic, or devilish, or supernatural in some way.

Truth: Hypnosis is merely a state of relaxation and heightened mental alertness that helps people easily achieve their amazing goals.

My personal mission is to educate the public as to how hypnosis really works, to take away any fear or misconceptions and allow more people to experience this wonderful modality of human change

The Truth is out THERE!........Where?.......OUT THERE!

Where do I stand on Past Life Regression??

DO I BELIEVE??
IS IT REAL??

Can I really experience a past life?? More then ONE past life!!! How many have I had??

How scary is it?? Will I feel pain??

These are only some of the questions I had when I first heard of Past Life Regression. You like me, are sitting there asking yourself the same questions and more probably.

So what is it all about? Do we really live more then one life or are we all being coned by unscrupulous therapist with dollar signs in their eyes??

The great thing about living in Canada is that any time something seems unusual, fantastic or just out right crazy, we can investigate it and make up our own minds.

I read everything I could get my hands on!!! From Edgar Cayce, Georgina Cannon, Michael Yapko and many more to try to determine if Past Life Regression is really possible.

As a hypnotist I’ve always felt that only way to really know what is going on is to try it out for myself.

Then and only then, can I have the right to have an opinion one way or another.
So I did!

What I discovered for myself is a world of hidden knowledge inside of me that surpasses the question “did I live before” and just makes me feel wondrous at the capacity of my mind to create a world I knew not existed within me.

When you experience a past life regression, you will experience amazement at first, then disbelief, then amazement again and many other emotions as you try to make sense of everything you have just experienced.

If you are anything like me, you will immediately try to find a way to explain what has just happened.

Which I did!!!

What I found after experiencing a few sessions is that it really didn’t matter whether it was real or not because it is the knowledge that I brought back that has helped me move forward in a more positive way.

I now want to experience life in its entirety because each time I do something new I’m creating a new me.

I now believe that quality of my life is directly linked to the journey not the destination! I am now compelled to keep moving in new directions and to top it off I may have more then one life to journey in? Wow!

Here we are……. back where I started.

Do I or Don’t I believe in PAST LIFE REGRESSION?

Does……it…..Really…..matter?

Sports Hypnosis by any other name can still make you a WINNER!!!!

The new winning technology in sports has to be HYPNOSIS!!!

Research shows dramatic improvement in performance when the mind is focused.

Experience yourself developing new skills by utilizing imagery and visualization as part of your training routine.

You will quickly discover that the most significant method to improving your game is the use of hypnosis.

Your underlying beliefs must be in agreement with your goals. Most common blocks to winning have to do with worthiness and the belief that you deserve to succeed and win.

Hypnosis can uncover and release these negative beliefs and replace them with new positive attitudes.

Elite athletes have been using GUIDED IMAGERY effectively for a long time.

You might ask, what’s the difference between GUIDED IMAGERY and HYPNOSIS?

Guided Imagery is a tool used in Hypnosis, but Hypnosis is not limited to using Guided Imagery.

Some people have preconceived beliefs and are mistakenly afraid of the word “HYPNOSIS”!!!

To minimize their fear some practitioners have come up with different names for it, even when they’re doing the same thing.

Now, I know there will be people out there who disagree with me, but this is my opinion.

MOST ATHLETES spend 95% of their training time doing physical training and only 5% doing mental training.

What if YOU could do mental training while doing YOUR physical training? With HYPNOSIS, you can!

ALL HYPNOSIS IS SELF-HYPNOSIS!!

YOU can learn to EASILY use SELF-HYPNOSIS to achieve YOUR own individual goals. Helping YOU Maximize YOUR Performance and achieve YOUR FULL Potential.

I truly believe that the only thing standing between you and your goals is YOU.

When you’re ready to start using the power of your mind to accelerate your training and optimize your talents and skills, call me!

You’ll be glad you did.

PUBLIC SPEAKING OR DEATH, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Quoting Jerry Seinfeld :
“According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.”

If Seinfeld is correct what does that say about us as humans?? Have we lost the art of communication?? Do we really prefer death over public speaking?? Are we not designed by nature to be able to talk to each other in order to convey information??

So where does it all start and why?

For most people the Fear of Public Speaking can be traced back to an incident that happened when they were young. It may have happened at school where, when called upon by the teacher to speak, they were teased by other kids.

When someone has a negative experience, the brain can link the negative feelings associated with that experience to other similar experiences.

Our brain is hard wired to learn and in learning it retains important information that can be accessed at a later time. If our brain feels that a situation is not in our best interest or may even cause us harm, it will do everything in its power to protect us.

In order to keep us from feeling bad again, the brain will attach terrible feelings to this kind of situation – that will stop us and keep us safe in the future and so Fear Of Public Speaking is BORN.

Attaching emotions to situations is one of the primary ways that humans learn. Sometimes we just get it wrong. Many people suffering from fear of public speaking believe that they are alone in feeling so frightened, but in fact it is shared by millions.

It is said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions!! The intention of our brain to associate fear with situations that can harm us is correct. What the brain can’t do is differentiate unpleasant but benign experiences from unpleasant but life threatening ones with ease. It has the same tools available to it to deal with both situations.

How do we fix this??

I taught public speaking and know first hand how hard it can be for most people to stand up before a group and present a topic. However like everything thing else in life, the more you do it the better you become and the easier the task seems.

Hypnosis is a great way to help individuals deal with this and any fear because it can help you face your fears in the comfort and safety of your own mind. A trained hypnotist can guide you to face any situation slowly using baby steps and other methods. The client is then free to review the original situation at their own pace and associate only as much as they feel comfortable each time.

When you have conquered your fear by utilizing the power of the mind, then you have conquered your fear for real.

Congratulations you are now free to speak to the world but before you do, let me give you a few tips that will help you do it well.

Here are some ways to insure that you can speak publicly with confidence:

Speak loudly.

Speak slowly.

Stand up straight (but not too rigid).

Make strong eye contact with your audience.

Project enthusiasm with your voice!

Avoid disclaimers. Disclaimers are statements such as, "I know this is a really dumb topic, but..." or "I know this isn't a very good visual aid, but..."

Dress appropriately. Be sure to dress like you take yourself seriously.

Take deep breaths. You'll be surprised at how well this works. If you know some special breathing techniques, use them, but all you really need to do is breathe deeply in and out a few times.

The night before, close your eyes and imagine yourself giving the speech and everything going well.

Keep things in perspective. You do much more dangerous things every day, like driving a car or crossing the street (not trying to start new fears just stating the facts).

Keep in mind that everybody is nervous. You're not alone.

Just do it. Speak. Speak more. The more experience you have with public speaking, the less nervous you will feel.

Most of all have fun knowing that you are one of a very small percentile that can public speak without fear!

Resolve me this or Resolve me that, Resolutions are GOALS and that's a fact!!!

With a new year come new opportunities, new hopes, new resolutions and allot of “I hope I can, I know I can, Oh dam what If…..”

As we all know there are right ways and a wrong ways to make New Year resolutions!!!

Resolutions by any other name are still goals that we set for ourselves. The thing to remember is that setting goals without formulating a plan only amounts to wishful thinking!

In order for your resolutions to succeed, they must translate into clear steps that can be put into an action plan. Like most people who create resolutions for themselves, you only have a short window when your resolve is at its peak before you begin to lose your motivation and end up forgetting about your resolutions completely.

Take the time right NOW to write down the steps in your plan.

Here are three things to remember when creating an action plan:

• A good plan will have all the steps required to complete the goal.

• Allow yourself a realistic amount of time to complete your goal. Your habit was not created in a day so it will take more then a day to change it.

• Make your plan flexible. Life has a funny way of throwing unexpected things at us, so be flexible and you will succeed.

Nothing of any importance is accomplished in one day! Resolutions are set in a day, but accomplished with many tiny steps that happen throughout the year. You should realize that a new year’s resolution should be nothing more then a starting point. Make your plan and revisit your plan regularly. Flexibility is required to complete anything but by reviewing you plan regularly you will insure that it stays current.

Always recognize your partial successes because each successful step brings you closer to reaching your goal and keeps you motivated.

Enjoy all your successes and remember that in order for your resolutions to have resolve, they must translate into clear steps that put you on a path to completing your goals.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

'Tis the season to be stressfull Fa la la la la la la la LA!!!

Stress is the "wear and tear" our bodies experience as we adjust to our continually changing environment or stimulus; it has physical and emotional effects on us and can create positive or negative feelings.

As a positive influence, stress can help compel us to action; it can result in a new awareness and an exciting new perspective.

As a negative influence, it can result in feelings of distrust, rejection, anger, and depression, which in turn can lead to health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.

Can I Eliminate Stress from My Life?
Positive stress adds excitement to life, and we all thrive under a certain amount of stress. Deadlines, competitions, confrontations, and even our frustrations and sorrows add depth and enrichment to our lives.

The goal is not to eliminate stress but to learn how to manage it and how to use it to help us. Insufficient stress acts as a depressant and may leave us feeling bored or dejected.

On the other hand, excessive stress may leave us feeling "tied up in knots." What we need to do is find the optimal level of stress which will motivate but not overwhelm each of us.

What is an Optimal Stress level for me?
There is no single level of stress that is optimal for all people. We are all individual and as such, what is distressing to one may be fuel to another. And even when we agree that a particular event is distressing, we will most likely differ in our physical and psychological responses to it.

The person who loves to move from job to job would be stressed in a job which was stable and routine, whereas the person who thrives under stable conditions would very likely be stressed on a job where duties were highly varied. Also, our personal stress requirements and the amount which we can tolerate before we become distressed changes with our ages.

It has been found that most illness is related to unrelieved stress. If you are experiencing stress symptoms, you have gone beyond your optimal stress level; you need to reduce the stress in your life and/or improve your ability to manage it.

Can I Manage Stress Better?
Identifying unrelieved stress and being aware of its effect on our lives is not sufficient for reducing its harmful effects. Just as there are many sources of stress, there are many possibilities for its management. However, all require work toward change: changing the source of stress and changing your reaction to it. How do you proceed?

1. Become aware of your stressors.

Determine what events distress you. What are you telling yourself about meaning of these events?
Determine how your body responds to the stress. Do you become nervous or physically upset?

2. What can you change?

Can you change your stressors by avoiding or eliminating them completely?
Can you reduce their intensity or shorten your exposure to stress (take a break, leave the physical premises, meditate)?
Can you devote the time and energy necessary to changing (goal setting, time management techniques etc.)?

3. Reduce the intensity of your emotional reactions to stress.

The stress reaction is triggered by your perception of danger...physical danger and/or emotional danger. Are you viewing your stressors in exaggerated terms and taking a difficult situation and making it a worse?
Are you expectations realistic? Are you trying to please everyone?
Are you overreacting and viewing things as absolutely critical and urgent?

Work at adopting more moderate views; try to see the stress as something you can cope with rather than something that overpowers you.
Try to reduce your excess emotions. Put the situation in perspective. Do not dwell on the negative aspects ONLY! Resolve one problem at a time!

4. Learn to reduce your physical reactions to stress.

Slow, deep breaths will bring your heart rate and respiration back to normal.
Relaxation techniques can reduce muscle tension. Hypnosis can help you gain voluntary control over such things as muscle tension, heart rate, and blood pressure.
However, these alone are not the answer. Learning to moderate your reaction to stress in a permanent way is a preferable long-term solution.

Such as exercise for cardiovascular fitness (moderate, prolonged rhythmic exercise is best, such as walking, swimming, cycling, or jogging).
Eat well-balanced, nutritious meals to maintain an ideal weight.
Avoid nicotine, excessive caffeine, and other stimulants.
Mix leisure with work. Take breaks and get away when you can.
Get enough sleep. Be as consistent with your sleep schedule as possible.

Most of all be good to yourself and get help when you need it!!!
